Morning Session OR Afternoon Session

Saturday, February 26, 2022   Morning Session 10 A.M. - Noon OR Afternoon Session 1:30 to 3:30 P.M.

International Quilt Museum
1523 North 33 St.
Lincoln, NE 68583

Calling all elementary-aged children! The featured quilt exhibition, “Painted Quilts from the Hopi Mesas” will be the inspiration for this workshop that will touch on many Native American traditions, including Hopi, Nez Perce, (American Girl doll Kaya), and those native to Nebraska. The designs and imagery on Kachina dolls, woven baskets, beaded jewelry and pottery will be viewed and discussed. The snack will feature dried fruits and flat bread, like many tribes would have eaten. We’ll learn about how they preserved their food to enjoy year-round. Participants will make a vest for their dolls, similar to Kaya’s.
The children are encouraged to bring their favorite doll to class.
